Today’s inspiration: Running 30 Marathons in 30 Days with a Refrigerator on your back.

In this week’s interview Tony The Fridge () is not afraid to tell the world that they can beat cancer and depression.

Tony is an Award Winning, World Record Holding, Extreme Endurance Athlete & Ultra Runner. Best known for taking on impossible journeys while carrying a 42kg Smeg Fridge. Some of his accomplishments include:

  • Running the entire length of Great Britain in 40 days
  • Completing The Great North Run 30 times in 30 Days
  • Running 67.1 Miles in 24 hours
  • Running 44 miles in 12 hours on a treadmill
  • Completing over 50 Marathons & Half Marathons covering over 2400 miles carrying a 42kg Smeg Fridge

Listen in as Tony shares some incredibly personal anecdotes from his childhood abuse, battle with depression, and a suicide attempt that led to his quest to run across America with a refrigerator on his back.

Tony also tells me off for asking about “fitness hacks” because he insists there is no easy way out.

This is a truly inspirational interview and one that you will not want to miss whether you are seeking motivation to get out of bed every morning, start that project, or go on your epic quest.

Some of our favorite quotes from the interview:

  • “I don’t think running is a sport, it’s what we’re meant to do. We’re designed to run & hunt, that’s what this species is meant to do. We weren’t meant to be sitting still.”
  • “When I look back at the toughest journeys in my life, those are the journeys you look back on”
  • “There is no easy way to anything, and the toughest, hardest ways are what thrill me when I look back at them.”
  • “What we should never ever forget is how magical life is. How fascinating & amazing it is that we come from a speck and we grow into these fantastic machines with such limitless capabilities.”
  • “The fridge represents the burden of cancer. I want to pay tribute to their lives by taking on an impossible journey, so I’m going to run a half marathon every day for the next 30 days and every step I take is a tribute to the people who have been affected by cancer.”
