LIM Huey Ching – the daughter of fallen oil tycoon Lim Oon Kuin or OK Lim – was on Tuesday (Apr 16) granted conditional permission by the state courts to leave Singapore to attend the graduation ceremonies of her children in Australia.
District Judge Brenda Tan gave the 56-year-old – a defendant in a US$3.5 billion civil trial alongside her father, brother and a former employee against fallen oil trader Hin Leong’s liquidators and top creditor HSBC – the green light to leave the city-state from May 2 to May 7.
Her bail was originally set at S$50,000 before Tuesday’s hearing. For her to leave Singapore, an additional bail of S$50,000, to be provided in one surety, has to be posted. The sureties must also provide monetary security.
Lim is also required to furnish her complete travel itinerary before her departure to the investigation officer (IO). She must also provide the full details of where she will be staying, and the relevant contact numbers, before her departure.
During her time in Australia, she is to remain contactable by the IO. She is also required to surrender her passport to the IO or the officer within 24 hours of her return to Singapore.
Lim was in August 2021 charged with one count of obstructing the course of justice, for allegedly instructing a Hin Leong employee at that time to ensure that deleted items from the company’s computer servers could not be recovered, and to permanently dispose of previous backups of information on the servers. She was then a director at the oil trader.

The court heard then that these instructions took place at a time when Hin Leong was facing probable civil or criminal proceedings.
