[JAKARTA] Tech giant Microsoft will invest US$1.7 billion over the next four years to enhance its hyperscale cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Indonesia, marking the largest investment made by the company in the biggest economy of South-east Asia.
The announcement was made on Tuesday (Apr 30) in Jakarta after Microsoft chief executive officer Satya Nadella met the country’s outgoing president Joko Widodo.
Microsoft will also expand its digital training programmes to provide AI skills to more than 2.5 million people in South-east Asia by 2025, including 840,000 people in Indonesia.
