US: Wall St nearly flat at open after hot inflation data


Wall Street’s main indexes were little changed on Tuesday (May 14) as investors assessed stronger-than-expected producer prices data and awaited Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech later in the day.

The S&P 500 opened lower by 0.32 points, or 0.01 per cent, at 5,221.10, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 2.92 points, or 0.02 per cent, to 16,391.16 at the opening bell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 35.25 points, or 0.09 per cent, at the open to 39,466.76. REUTERS
