I’m glad to see that there is some kickback on the rezoning vote from some councillors. What surprises me is that anybody thought the vote wasn’t preordained. If you took time to read the info sheet the city sent out before the hearings, it was obvious that the deal was already done. We don’t want diatribes, rants against council, they will not be put forward. We do want positive input on the rezoning plan as it stands. And the hateful eight don’t want political standing brought into municipal votes. Give me a break, you Trudeau camp followers.

STUART WEEKS

(More positive input would be welcome on rezoning.)

Time for Fire Trudeau Day

As Canada lurches from crisis to crisis with the Trudeau ethics scandals, Trudeau broken promises and Trudeau dysfunctional government, let’s come together as a nation and declare July 1, 2024, as Fire Trudeau Day. Canadians have had enough of the vacuous Justin Trudeau and his irresponsible Liberal government that has hurt Canadians to unimaginable levels from just years ago with a housing crisis, unaffordable food in our stores and crushing debt. At noon on July 1, 2024, wherever you are, open your window and shout out in your maddest and loudest voice: Fire Trudeau! Fire Trudeau! Fire Trudeau!

(Many Canadians don’t need a special day to support that cause.)

Savings come at a cost

A large convenience store chain recently reduced their gas price approximately 15 cents as a promotion for one day and on passing by one could see nothing more than chaos at pumps. Cars coming from every direction with drivers jockeying for a spot in front of gas pump to save no more than a few dollars. Sadly it has come down to this as Canadians who are taxed to death for just a moment in time feel they’ve won one over the establishments. How sad and utterly degrading.

PETER J. MIDDLEMORE

(Sad, yes, but we don’t blame them.)

Costly citizenships

The Trudeau Liberals, in yet another vote-buying exercise, are handing out free Canadian citizenships to people choosing to live abroad. These people will pay no Canadian taxes but benefit from Canadian social programs such as health care and pensions. It was reported that true Canadians are currently supporting some four million ‘Canadians’ who make no contribution to Canada. Only Liberals could come up with a scheme to make the problem worse.

DOUG HYSLIP

(Canadian citizens not contributing to this country shouldn’t be allowed.
