ONE of offshore and marine (O&M) giant Seatrium’s directors, Lai Chung Han, will resign on Jun 30, 2024.
In a bourse filing on Monday (Jun 10), Seatrium said Lai, 51, will be stepping down from his role to assume appointment as permanent secretary (Development) at the Ministry of Finance from Jul 1.
Lai will also resign as Seatrium’s non-executive independent director, a role he has occupied since Feb 23, 2023. He is also a member of the corporate social responsibility committee.
Lai is currently permanent secretary at the Ministry of Education. He also sits on the board of trustees at the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, and is council chairman of the National Institute of Education.
With Lai’s resignation, Seatrium’s board will comprise nine directors, of whom seven are independent directors.
Seatrium was formed after a mega-merger between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Sembcorp Marine.

Shares of Seatrium closed at S$1.74, up S$0.04 or 2.4 per cent on Monday, before the announcement.
