US: Wall St opens higher on PPI, Starbucks boost


Wall Street opened higher on Tuesday (Aug 13) after producer prices data showed abating inflation pressures, keeping the Federal Reserve on track to cut rates in September, while Starbucks soared after appointing Chipotle’s Brian Niccol as CEO.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 88.3 points, or 0.22 per cent, at the open to 39,445.27.

The S&P 500 rose 32.6 points, or 0.61 per cent, at the open to 5,376.98​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 164.1 points, or 0.98 per cent, to 16,944.735 at the opening bell. REUTERS
