Her role will include oversight of Citi’s chief investment office and global investment committee

GLOBAL bank Citigroup announced on Wednesday (Nov 27) that it has appointed former BlackRock portfolio manager Kate Moore as its chief investment officer (CIO) for its wealth division.

She will assume her role in February, said a memo from the New York-based bank’s head of wealth Andy Sieg.

She will replace Steven Wieting, who has been interim CIO for the six months since the resignation of David Bailin in May, after 15 years at the bank.

Wieting will continue to serve as the bank’s chief investment strategist and economist after Moore steps up.

As CIO, Moore will oversee Citi’s chief investment office, global investment committee, investment lab and its sustainable investing team, said Sieg.

She will lead the delivery and development of independent investment strategies for Citi’s clients, advisers and relevant professionals across its business, he added.

Moore joined BlackRock in June 2016 as chief equity strategist of BlackRock Investment Institute, a unit of the investment management behemoth, before joining BlackRock’s Global Allocation investment team in May 2019.

She most recently served as head of thematic strategy for BlackRock’s Global Allocation business, while concurrently holding the portfolio manager’s post.

Moore previously served as chief investment strategist for JP Morgan’s Private Bank and has held senior positions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Moore Capital and Morgan Stanley.
