Letters to the Editor, June 7, ’25: ‘Trump unpredictable & incoherent’

Is it any wonder why the drug-infused Elon Musk is all over the map and now criticizing his president over the ‘big beautiful budget bill.’ The corrupt Trump is so unpredictable and making so many incoherent and astonishing decisions and at the same creating uncertainty in the markets, is there a country around the world that trusts him and his administration? And who really wants to do credible business with them? And the worst of it is that Trump is so oblivious to it all!

(The markets do not like uncertainty)

Carney’s waiting game

Carney is just stalling. He’s dodging the pipelines issue to get the assimilation of the NDP finalized. Then when he has his majority he’ll tell Danielle Smith and the rest of Alberta to pound sand. He’ll let B.C. hold up any hint of progress and stay out of the pipeline discussion. Then he’ll decide the ring of fire is shovel-ready and promote the nation-building project in Ontario, where all those Liberal voters are. And he’ll make Alberta pay for it all with a new tax on oil.

Bonhoeffer’s philosophy

Twentieth-century German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer propounded that stupid people are more dangerous than evil people. Bonhoeffer felt that stupid people were incapable of critical thinking, that they often put forward ideas based on no facts, were easily led by others and required authoritative figures to follow. To me this clearly describes the voting masses in Canada. A failed ability to critically think for themselves. A willingness to believe absurd statements and to follow the crowd.

GLENN WILLIAM CUNNINGHAM

(Giving the Liberals another term would certainly fit with this theory)

Not Canada’s team

I am sorry, but not all of Canada is cheering for the Oilers! The over-hyped, over-sensitive team (if you hit them, you get a penalty), yet (Darnell) Nurse can slash and break Roope Hintz’s foot and get away with it, a team with all these No.-1 draft picks but have done nothing. Go, Panthers, go! Some of us like teams that aren’t babied or coddled like the Oilers. I guess the NHL finally wants a Canadian team to win the Cup.

BRIAN STALDEKER

(Nurse was penalized for the slash on Hintz. And what about the Panthers’ headshot on the Leafs’ goalie?)
