While she’s confident in their process, Idina is still hesitant about raising her teen in the spotlight. Though Walker has attended several red carpet events with his parents over the years, the Tony Award winner never wants her son to feel obligated to make public appearances.
“He’s gotten to the age where he says, ‘I’m proud of you, Mom. I want to be with you,’” she noted. “So then I felt like it was OK.”
But with her son’s supportive blessing, Idina has felt more comfortable having him as her plus one at a few events. In fact, their most recent outing was at the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked last November.
“I believe his anonymity is so important and yet he’s a teenager, and it was a hard decision to be honest, you know? But he really wanted to,” she continued of their joint appearance at the premiere. “I’m proud of him, so I loved showing him off. But as a parent, I’m still conflicted about it.”
