We’re with you, Alberta

I’m a Nova Scotian. I follow politics quite closely lately — across Canada and now what’s happening in the U.S. One thing I see is the Alberta media putting down Eastern Canada and rightfully so as long as it’s defined as Ontario and Quebec. Most of us in Atlantic Canada fully support what Alberta stands for and how important your province is to our national economy. Our provincial election last year was a huge P.C. majority. We stand with you, Alberta. Please remember that.

Wait right there

I read your article ‘Road Trip for New Hip’ (Calgary Sun, Friday, July 18). In the article, AHS states the average wait for knee surgery in Alberta is 23.6 weeks. That is complete hogwash. In April 2024, my doctor referred me for knee surgery. I waited 10 months to get an appointment at the Calgary Knee and Hip Clinic to see a nurse. Since then, I have not heard from AHS. I have now been waiting for 16 MONTHS. Where do AHS get 23.6 weeks? Is that after you see a surgeon? What about including the wait time?

TRISH COULSON

(The AHS spokesperson said the wait time begins once the patient and doctor agree surgery is needed, and the patient is ready to proceed. Any way you look at it, 16 months is appalling)

Elbows deep

So, it appears Prime Minister Mark Carney was lying to Canadians during the election when he said he was the only person who could deal with President Donald Trump and it was all “Elbows Up.” Now, all we get is ‘Hands Up,’ as in ‘We Surrender.’

Jolt ’em

President Donald Trump wants a lot of attention. He did not stop the war with Russia. Now, 35% tariffs. If our prime minister does not answer the bell, then give it to Ontario Premier Doug Ford. He would increase the hydro surcharge to a few states to 50%. The senators will be on the blower after Trump.

GEORGE TEMERISKI

(So much wasted energy on both sides of this battle)

Hot air

I would agree the climate is changing. Is it us, or is it a natural occurrence? I do believe, though, this narrative by the global elites is a con job; a scam. These people, the rich hypocrites, the 1%, have enough hoarded wealth they could fix every problem on Earth with it. So why aren’t they? Instead, they have all invested in — and are forcing compliance with — this climate change scam. These elites, the greedy, want more.

GLENN WILLIAM CUNNINGHAM

(Don’t buy what they’re selling)
