Sour notes

So let’s see, it’s OK to promote drag queen displays and events such as reading with royalty, or promoting pro-Hamas demonstration. But a Christian singer who sings and praises our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has venues cancelled, his tour vehicle rammed, and a concert at a Montreal Catholic church causes that city to issue a $2,500 fine to that church. This is not the Canada I know and love; this is nothing more than a communist regime. Totally disgusting.

Bruce Haynes

(You’re not alone on that sentiment.)

Questionable question

A Christian religious singer in Quebec banned. By politically so-called correct people from singing in halls but now sings in churches and had a smoke bomb chucked on stage by protesters and apparently he says the police just stood by. But the best was when a CBC person asked where his permit was to sing a religious song in a Christian church. What the heck is Canada coming to when a representative of the government-sponsored media would even ask such a question?

Wayne Robertson

(That’s a good question.)

Carney fails to deliver

PM Mark Carney has failed to live up to expectations that he himself set during the campaign. He told us that he was great negotiator, knows how to deal with President Donald Trump, and knows how to manage a crisis. So far he has failed to deliver on any of his claims. And how does Carney handle his self-proclaimed Canadian existential crisis? He holds a few round-table discussions with the premiers, convenes Parliament for a month and then he goes on summer holidays. Canada is going down a dead-end street.

Jeffrey Anderson

(We do need more concrete action.)

Shameful clawback

The Alberta government plans to deduct the new Canada Disability Benefit from AISH income. As a group insurance broker with more than 15 years experience, I’ve never seen offsets based on hypothetical income. This immoral move undermines a federal benefit meant to lift disabled Albertans from poverty, while the province boasts a $5.8B surplus.

Kelly Mandryk

(AISH benefits are the highest in Canada compared to similar programs in other provinces.)

Hold the fort

I agree the Fort Calgary name change should not happen. It’s the woke thinking that is behind the renaming.  Albertans who castigate the east of Canada for woke thinking have many people who suffer from the same virus here.

Abram Wiebe

(Yes, we’re not immune.)
