[SINGAPORE] Embattled cord blood bank Cordlife announced on Monday (Oct 27) that it had submitted on the same day the necessary written representations to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in response to the contents of a notice from the ministry.
The submission was made within the 14-day extension the cord-blood bank operator had been given to respond to the contents of the Sep 29 notice, which indicated the ministry’s plan to suspend the company’s cord-blood banking services for a year.
But Cordlife has suspended its cord-blood banking services since then, following the MOH audit in July that uncovered several instances of non-compliance with regulatory requirements in key areas: quality management, continuity of operations, supplier management, performance monitoring, risk assessment, incident reporting, incident handling, corrective actions, documentation and data management.
The company had said at first that it would have to assess its ability to continue operations on Oct 1. That same day, it disclosed that it was “unable to assess” the impact of the suspension for FY 2025.
The company added that it will provide an update on the progress and outcome of its response to MOH when information is available.
Shares of Cordlife closed flat at S$0.148 on Monday.
