Where’s your poppy?
It is concerning and disappointing each November to see fewer and fewer people (of all age groups) wearing a poppy. We often talk about the importance of Canadian traditions, values and sacrifices and it would seem wearing a poppy is an easy demonstration of our respect. I’m equally dismayed that both large- and small-business owners are not having staff wear a poppy while on shift. Lest We Forget is more than a slogan — wearing a poppy is a visible reminder that no, we will not forget.

RANDOLPH SCOTT
(It’s a simple and meaningful gesture)
Dear Prime Minister Carney:
If you are back from all your gallivanting across Europe and Asia, I was wondering if you happened to notice that President Trump gave American citizens $2,000! Just about everyone except the very rich will receive this. Six weeks before Christmas. Now I’m thinking that if our election were this year, we’d all be happy campers knowing something was coming our way from the government except a bill! I realize the money given to Americans is partly from our tariff money that Canada was forced to pay, so how about a little pre-Christmas joy for those of us? Being able to purchase a beef roast would be a dream come true! I am ever so proud of being Canadian and do honour all our service members who serve and those who have served. I appreciate we do live in a pretty awesome country, but oh my, the flavourful aroma of beef and Yorkshire pudding is just a dream these days.

Carney’s all talk
(Re: Carney says he will add to his ‘living list’ of nation-building projects on Thursday) Let’s be honest, the PM is just yanking Alberta’s chain with regards to new pipelines. Carney pulled a similar stunt on the campaign trail, leading up to the Liberals’ fourth mandate on April 28. Back then, it was his ‘elbows-up’ nonsense to supposedly secure a trade-tariff deal with the Trump administration in Washington, D.C. And we all know what happened there. Carney is a person who likes to talk a lot.
