Judy Garland‘s family is over the rainbow at new generations brought into the wonderful world of Oz.
The late Wizard of Oz star’s daughter Lorna Luft—whose father is the late movie producer Sidney Luft—couldn’t be happier about the success of Wicked and for everyone involved in the film, which takes place in the same cinematic universe as her mother’s iconic film.
“I am so pleased for everyone on Wicked,” she told E! News exclusively at the Red Diamond 95th Anniversary Gala at The Pierre Hotel in New York City Nov. 20. “Jon Chu is amazing. Cynthia [Erivo] and Ariana [Grande] and everybody in that film, they’re a separate entity, OK? And they have their own story and their own visit with Oz.”
“But I think they will agree with me,” Lorna, 73, continued. “Jeff [Goldblum] and Michelle [Yeoh] and everyone affected by going to Oz and joining the Oz family is quite remarkable.”
While she clearly adores the cast, the Grease 2 actress ultimately pointed to the author of the books from which both Wicked and The Wizard of Oz draw inspiration.
