TV networks target Alberta

Canada’s national TV networks may deliver Alberta straight to independence. The national political affairs shows on one recent Sunday showed Albertans that all of Canada’s national networks could barely contain their contempt for Alberta. Despite the results of a Nov. 27 Angus Reid poll saying the majority of Canadians support a pipeline from Alberta to the northern coast of B.C., including the majority of British Columbians at 53%, Canada’s TV networks conveyed a different reality, as they focused on every anti-pipeline advocate and every anti-Alberta sentiment they could find, contributing to the false impression, that outside Alberta, there was total opposition to a new Alberta pipeline to sell Canadian oil to Asia. I wonder if CAJ (Canadian Association of Journalists) supports this yellow journalism. The television contempt was so severe, some would say it could be described as bordering on hatred for Alberta. So what will be Alberta’s response to all of Canada’s national TV networks ganging up on Albertans? Well, if Canada’s TV news directors read the excellent article written by Postmedia’s Jackie Carmichael about the recent UCP convention, they would have learned the UCP just elected pro-independence officers to the board of directors. There are now UCP officers who would vote ‘yes’ to the question: Do you agree that Alberta shall become a Sovereign Country and cease to be a province in Canada? There is the possibility the networks may be right, and Alberta may never get its pipeline in today’s Canada. Many Albertans believe B.C. will fold and agree to a pipeline immediately, after an independent Alberta Republic has shut down B.C.’s rail access to Canada through Alberta for a month, closing down both Vancouver & Prince Rupert ports, collapsing B.C.’s economic engine! Be careful what you wish for CBC, CTV and Global Television, your Christmas wish may be granted sooner than you think.

(Can’t say we were able to catch all the political affairs shows, but we’ll keep rolling out the Lilleys, Gunters and Bells to make sure both sides get some airtime … or, in this case, screen time)
Nature calling
Our federal government is leaving no stone unturned. Julie Dabrusin, who was already our Environment and Climate Change minister, has now had Nature added to her title and responsibility. Nature is defined as the entire material world including plants and animals that exist independently of human creation. Even for the always performative Liberals, this sounds like quite a task. Good luck and God speed, Ms Dabrusin!

No pain, no gain
(Re: ‘How could you possibly know?: Flames’ Rasmus Andersson thriving despite all the talk about his future,’ calgarysun.com.) It seems this is how this hockey franchise has operated, down at the Dome in the last few seasons. As they have put it. ‘They are rebuilding for the future.’ Hmm…does the Flames’ future include sitting in dead-last place in the league? You know, pain before gain?

At the ready
As Russia’s Putin threatens Europe with nuclear Armageddon, as China threatens all, we — trying to act as if humanity was truly civilized — have failed. Whether it be radical Islam, communist dictatorship, terrorist cartels, or just plain evil criminals, we must stand at the ready, fully armed, not threatening but ready to defend our society, our democratic way of life. Play nice but always remember, a snake may shed its skin, but it remains a snake.
