LAKE LOUISE

A lot of ski and snowboard areas around the world have already ended their seasons. It’s coming up on mid-April, after all, and that’s what they do.

Not Lake Louise, though. The Banff National Park resort is still going to be open all the way until May 5, so you’ve got a couple weeks left to get in some final turns before you hang up your board or skis for the summer.

Between now and then, there are a tonne of awesome events at The Lake, too. Their Spring DJ Series goes every Saturday until the end of the season, there’s a Cardboard Box Downhill Derby on April 21 and there’s Mount Slushmore on April 27 — an absolutely massive pond-skimming event, for those who don’t know.

There’s still a tonne of great snow, too, as the 36 cm that fell in the past week brought the season total to an awesome 558 cm

NORQUAY

Don’t worry, you’ve still got time to get to Mount Norquay before the season’s over. Not all the time in the world, but a little time. The Banff resort isn’t closing until April 21, at least, so there are still some sweet turns to be found.

Norquay’s Pride Ski Day is on April 12 and will be a full day celebrating the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in partnership with Banff Pride.

There’s also a Kids Rail Jam on April 14 and both the Bozo and Kinder Cups on April 20 and 21.

And there’s still a lot of snow falling. No joke, 31 cm fell over the past seven days. That’s pretty sweet and it brought the season total to 370 cm.

NAKISKA

I don’t know what to tell ya, pal. If you were planning on getting out to Nakiska before the season ended, you’ve gotta get out there this weekend or you’re right out of luck.

They’ll be celebrating another amazing winter with DJs, firepits — with s’mores — and a little après fun this weekend. So it’s kind of a perfect time to get out to Kananaskis for a little end-of-season fun.

And Mother Nature has ensured that the resort is going to be going out on a high, too. Nakiska got hit with 35 cm of snow in the past week and the season total is now 372 cm.

MARMOT BASIN

They’ve still got lots of season left at Marmot Basin. The Jasper resort isn’t planning on shutting down for the winter until May 5, so look north if you’re hoping to get a few turns in before the end of the season.

Conditions are set for a solid spring, too, with 328 cm layering the slopes.

KICKING HORSE

This weekend is the end of the winter season at Kicking Horse, and honestly, we’re feeling pretty sad about that.

But instead of getting down in the dumps about the whole thing, the good folks in Golden, B.C. are sending the skiing and riding season out with a bang.

We’re talking dummy downhills. We’re talking a slush cup. We’re talking everything you’d want at and end-of-season mountain party at the 2024 Sunsplash Funkfest on Saturday and Sunday.

And if you’re looking to get in a few turns before the season’s through, well, Kicking Horse has got you covered there, too. The resort was hit with 26 cm of fresh powder in the past week and the season total sits at 575 cm.

PANORAMA

They know how to send a ski season out with a proper goodbye at Panorama.

With their closing day set for Sunday, Panorama has a couple big events on tap.

First, there’s the Red Bull Slopesoakers, which combines the best of a rail jam and a pond skim and sounds absolutely awesome. That goes down Saturday.

The next day, there’s the Superhero Pond Skim, which is going to be just as slushy as the Slopesoakers and a little more suited for kids who might want to give it a try.

Panorama saw 26 cm of snowfall in the last seven days and the season total is 368 cm.

FERNIE

Fernie’s final day of the season is Sunday.

Anyone who knows anything about Fernie, though, knows they like to end their year with a party. And that party is Fernival.

The annual end-of-season bash is always one of the best parties of the year in the mountains, and this year goes down Saturday. It will feature live music in the plaza featuring headlining band The Steadies, as well as the Little Good Band and the Mile High Club. The Raging Elk Slope Soaker, by the way, is on Sunday.

The past week saw a fresh helping of snow at the B.C. resort, with the 30 cm that fell bringing the season total to 824 cm.
