Witt will succeed Benjamin Keswick, who will be retiring after over 12 years in the role
JARDINE Cycle & Carriage (Jardine C&C) has appointed John Witt as its new chairman, effective Aug 2.
Witt will succeed Benjamin Keswick, who will be retiring as chairman after more than 12 years in the role. Witt will also be appointed non-executive director of the board.
Witt has been group managing director of Jardine Matheson Holdings since 2020, as well as managing director of DFI Retail, Hongkong Land and Mandarin Oriental.
He joined the board of Jardine Matheson Holdings in 2016 and was its group finance director from 2016 to 2020. He has been with the Jardine Matheson Group since 1993 and has held several senior positions including chief financial officer of Hongkong Land and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
Witt has also been a commissioner of Astra International, a subsidiary 50.1 per cent owned by Jardine C&C since 2016.
Keswick first joined Jardine C&C’s board in 2007 as group managing director and executive director. He moved to a non-executive role when he was appointed chairman in 2012.
He will also step down as non-executive director of Jardine C&C and will cease to be a member of the nominating committee and remuneration committee. Keswick will, however, remain executive chairman of Jardine Matheson Holdings, Jardine C&C’s major shareholder.
Shares of Jardine C&C closed at S$25.58 on Tuesday (Jul 16), down S$0.07 or 0.3 per cent, before the announcement.
