Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of India’s Tata conglomerate, in critical condition

Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of one of India’s biggest conglomerates, Tata Sons, is in critical condition and in intensive care in a Mumbai hospital, two sources said on Wednesday (Oct 9).

Tata, 86, said on Monday (Oct 7) he was undergoing routine medical investigations due to his age and related medical conditions.

“There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits,” Tata said in posts on social media and in a statement released on his behalf.

A representative for Tata did not immediately respond to a request for an update on his condition on Wednesday. REUTERS
