Other Singapore companies on the index are CapitaLand Investment, ComfortDelGro, Keppel, ST Engineering, and Wilmar International

SEMBCORP Industries was on Monday (Dec 23) included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index for the first time, joining five other Singapore companies.

The other companies on the index are CapitaLand Investment (CLI), ComfortDelGro, Keppel, ST Engineering, and Wilmar International.

Sembcorp was the sole new entrant from Singapore in this year’s edition of the Asia-Pacific index, part of S&P Dow Jones Indices’ annual review of its Dow Jones Sustainability Indices. These indices are grouped by themes, including Asia-Pacific and emerging markets.

Transport operator ComfortDelGro marked its sixth consecutive year on the index in 2024.

Cheng Siak Kian, managing director and group chief executive officer of ComfortDelGro, said: “This recognition drives us to create lasting positive impact for our stakeholders and the communities we serve, while continuously raising the bar on ESG (environmental, social and governance) standards and integrating these principles across the group.”

Keppel, which was included for the third consecutive year, also retained its position on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.

Chief sustainability officer Ho Tong Yen said that the company was “honoured” to be recognised, adding: “These recognitions from global ESG benchmarks reaffirm Keppel’s commitment to both run our business sustainably and make sustainability our business, by providing solutions that contribute to global sustainable development and decarbonisation efforts.”

CLI and Wilmar also retained their spots on the world index. The world index and the Asia-Pacific index recognise the top 10 per cent and top 20 per cent of the world’s largest companies, respectively, based on long-term economic, environmental, and social criteria.
