US: Wall St opens higher ahead of US-China weekend meet

[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Friday (May 9) as investors assessed fresh remarks from President Donald Trump regarding US tariffs on China ahead of a key weekend meeting between the two countries.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 37.0 points, or 0.09 per cent, at the open to 41,405.48.

The S&P 500 rose 15.7 points, or 0.28 per cent, at the open to 5,679.65​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 94.4 points, or 0.53 per cent, to 18,022.549 at the opening bell. REUTERS
