Its group chief communications officer will also relinquish the role to focus on the company’s ESG and CSR agenda

[SINGAPORE] Transit operator SMRT on Friday (Dec 19) announced two key senior management changes, including the departure of deputy group CEO Lee Ling Wee.

Lee, who is also the president of SMRT’s business arm Strides International and Strides Engineering, will step down from his current full-time role on Feb 1 next year to pursue personal interests. He will continue to serve as adviser to the group CEO, Ngien Hoon Ping.

Chief business development officer Goh Eng Kiat and chief engineering officer Ang Hang Guan will cover the president duties at Strides International and Strides Engineering, respectively.

SMRT added that it will announce Lee’s successor as deputy group CEO in due course.

Lee has been at the company for 12 years. He was president of SMRT Trains for seven years, before becoming deputy group CEO and Strides International president in 2020. In 2024, he took on the role of Strides Engineering president.

Meanwhile, group chief communications officer Margaret Teo will relinquish the role on Jan 1 next year. Teo, who is also group chief sustainability officer, will focus on the company’s environmental, social and governance and corporate social responsibility agenda.
