INDONESIAN tech firm GoTo Gojek Tokopedia signed agreements with China’s Tencent and Alibaba on Sunday (Nov 10) to develop cloud infrastructure and digital talent in Indonesia, GoTo said in a statement.
The agreements were reached at the Indonesia-China Business Forum in Beijing and witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who is visiting China, GoTo said.
Working with Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud, GoTo will “not only ensure that GoTo’s platforms are secure and resilient but also empower Indonesia’s digital economy with a major investment in critical cloud infrastructure and training to nurture local digital talents”, GoTo CEO Patrick Walujo said.
Tencent’s cloud unit will build its third Internet data centre in South-east Asia’s largest economy, part of a commitment worth around US$500 million for Indonesia by 2030, according to the statement.
Alibaba Cloud will focus on talent development, doubling the number of artificial intelligence and cloud trainees in Indonesia to 800,000 by 2033 and establishing a skills centre in the country. REUTERS
