This Hollaback to the 2005 Grammys Is B-A-N-A-N-A-S – E! Online

The bass at the 2005 Grammys kept runnin’, runnin’.

After all, Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas kicked off music’s biggest night 20 years ago with the smash hit “Let’s Get It Started,” which was seamlessly blended into a musical medley of early aughts singles featuring Gwen Stefani—then in her Harajuku Girl era—and Eve, as well as Maroon 5, Franz Ferdinand and Los Lonely Boys.

A bevy of stars—including BonoTim McGraw and Norah Jones—also came together for a tribute to victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, performing a cover of The Beatles‘ “Across the Universe” that defied all music genres.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez hit the stage with her then-husband of eight months Marc Anthony for an emotional rendition of their duet “Escapemono.”

But the singers—who finalized their divorce in 2014 after two kids and 10 years of marriage—weren’t they only couple who stole the show at the time.
