Who Is Ryan DellaFranco? Alabama University Frat Boy Beats Up Ex-Girlfriend Before Her LI Cop Father Threatens Him as Both Turn Themselves In

A University of Alabama fraternity member has sparked a wave of online attention after his arrest over allegations that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend. In an unexpected turn, the victim’s father—a Long Island police officer—is also now facing charges, after he showed up the next day and threatened the man accused of attacking his daughter.

Ryan DellaFranco is accused of assaulting his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend inside his off-campus apartment in Tuscaloosa, near the University of Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium, local police said. “He slammed her head into a toilet and was over top of her choking her,” a texter, only named as Ava, claimed in a Snapchat conversation circulating on X.

“She hit him in the balls and grabbed her phone and ran away…He chased her and broke into her apartment.” The alleged incident took place on Sunday, according to Tuscaloosa police. The victim contacted authorities afterward, but no one was arrested at the scene, and officials did not explain why.

Shaken by what happened, the young woman then called her father, a detective with the Nassau County Police Department, who traveled to Alabama the very next day to confront DellaFranco.

DellaFranco, 20, later contacted officers himself, claiming the angry father showed up at his home and made threats against him, according to police.

A video that went viral on Monday night showed a loud crowd gathered outside a house, watching as police arrived on the scene. Despite the chaos, no arrests were made at that time.

DellaFranco, who is from Cumming, Georgia, left after the Monday incident but later turned himself in at the Tuscaloosa Police Department headquarters on Tuesday. He was charged with third-degree domestic violence and assault and was released after posting a $500 bond, police said.

The victim’s father also turned himself in the next day at the same police headquarters. He faced a harassment charge and was released on a $500 bond as well. Authorities have not revealed what led to the initial confrontation between DellaFranco and his ex-girlfriend.

However, Snapchat messages that surfaced online claim he had been selling their private sex tapes to adult websites. The situation escalated after the young woman discovered this and confronted him, leading to the alleged assault, according to those exchanges.

DellaFranco’s former fraternity, Theta Chi, told The New York Post that he is no longer affiliated with the organization, though they did not clarify when his membership ended.

Since then, photos, videos, and posts related to DellaFranco—who has deleted all his social media accounts—have been widely shared on X, often under the hashtag “#thetachifiles.”

“Mr. DellaFranco is no longer a member of Theta Chi, and the International Fraternity is unaware of any connection between the charges against Mr. DellaFranco and any Theta Chi activity,” a spokesperson from Theta Chi’s International Headquarters said.

“The Fraternity urges anyone with information on these allegations to cooperate with law enforcement.”

Alongside local police, the West Alabama INTERCEPT Task Force, which focuses on human trafficking cases, has also joined the investigation.
