Who Is Jaime King’s Ex-Husband Austin Sosa? Divorce Takes New Turn as Ex Waives Spousal Support
Jaime King’s estranged husband, Austin Sosa, wants to wrap up their divorce as soon as possible, and he doesn’t even want to wait long enough to work out a proper deal.
According to court documents, the actress and model’s ex-husband is asking to move the case along because he is tired of waiting around for Jaime to respond. Sosa is requesting to end the marriage by default.
There is no agreement yet established between the two parties, but Sosa claims that there are no assets or debts to be handled. He also gave up his right to collect spousal support from King.
Who is Austin Sosa and How Did He Meet Jaime King?
Sosa is an alumnus of Brigham Young University, a private research university in Utah. He has held many roles in the banking industry. According to his LinkedIn page, he began his career as a private equity associate and has since worked as an investment banker. He is currently based in Los Angeles.
King shared that she and Sosa had “met through mutual friends” during an episode of the podcast ‘Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald’. On the episode, King shared a few details of the beginning of her relationship with Sosa.
They kept their relationship very private, only confirming it when King mentioned him in a joint Instagram post, which featured pictures of King posing with her children.
“My God, I am the luckiest and most great mother ever,” King said in the post’s caption. “Thank you to Pammy, Chase, Austin, Gwendolyn and Carlos. Family forever.”
They confirmed their engagement in July 2025, shortly after King was spotted wearing a new diamond engagement ring. Her team told PEOPLE magazine that King was “especially happy to share this moment with her children, who have a loving bond with Austin and his family.”
It remains unclear when exactly the pair got married, as the next thing anyone knew, Sosa filed for divorce from King on January 22nd, 2026. After the news of the divorce broke, King reportedly said that the divorce filing had come “out of nowhere”.
“I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship,” King wrote in a statement to PEOPLE.
She also requested privacy for herself and her children, writing, “I hope people will stop making assumptions— particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinize women for simply doing their jobs.”
Jaime King’s Previous Marriage to Kyle Newman
Jaime King was previously married to director Kyle Newman, whom she met on the set of his film ‘Fanboys’ in 2006. The couple had a whirlwind romance, moving in together after three months of dating and getting engaged by the next year. King and Newman got married in November 2007.
King gave birth to their first son, James, in 2013, and to their second son, Leo, in 2015.
After nearly 14 years of marriage, King filed for divorce from Newman, citing “irreconcilable differences”. As part of her divorce filings, King accused her husband of being verbally and emotionally abusive. King was even granted a temporary restraining order against Newman, which was later withdrawn.
Newman denied the claims that he’d been abusive and raised his own concerns about King’s alleged drug and alcohol issues and her struggle with addiction, calling her a “chronic drug addict and alcoholic who refuses to acknowledge that she has a problem”.
Their divorce was finalized in September 2023, just two years before King would get engaged to Sosa. Newman was awarded sole physical custody of their children and King was mandated to complete a six-month substance rehabilitation program.
