Who Was Kelly Iatauro? Federal Agent Shoots, Kills Wife in New Jersey Home Before Turning Gun on Self in Horrific Murder Suicide

A federal special agent shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide at their New Jersey home, authorities said. Kelly Iatauro, 46, was found shot dead inside their home in Sayreville, New Jersey, on Friday night, while her husband, Christopher Iatauro, 52, was found dead in the backyard in what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Investigators are treating the deaths as an apparent murder-suicide, with Christopher identified as the suspected shooter. Officials have not released a possible motive, and the circumstances leading up to the deadly incident remain under investigation as detectives continue gathering evidence.

Shot and Killed His Wife

Christopher Iatauro served as a special agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to employment records from 2019 and 2020 obtained by local news outlet NJ101.5.

Sayreville police responded to the home on Glynn Court at about 8 p.m. Friday. As officers investigated the scene, residents in the neighborhood were instructed to stay inside, and a section of the street remained closed for at least 40 minutes.

Kelly Iatauro’s sister-in-law shared a heartfelt tribute on social media as she announced funeral arrangements, remembering her as someone whose warmth and vibrant personality touched countless lives. The emotional post reflected the deep grief felt by family and friends following her sudden death.

“As many of you may now know, my beautiful sister-in-law, Kelly Iatauro, was senselessly and suddenly taken from us on Friday,” she wrote on Facebook.

Family Devastated

She went on to describe Kelly as “a bright light—kind, thoughtful, hysterical, inappropriate, and just one of the most amazing people I’ve ever known. She left a lasting impression on anyone that was lucky enough to know her.”

Many friends also paid tribute online, recalling Kelly’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those around her.

One friend thanked her for “always cheering others on,” while another wrote, “This isn’t fair, you should still be here,” reflecting the shock and heartbreak felt throughout the community.

Funeral arrangements were shared with loved ones as family members asked for prayers and support while they mourned her devastating loss.
