This comes after he spent eight years at the bank’s corporate treasury, where he eventually became deputy corporate treasurer
DBS has appointed Calvin Ong as its new Singapore consumer banking head. He will succeed Jeremy Soo who will retire at the end of the year, the lender said on Friday (Sep 6).
Ong will start his new position on Jan 1, 2025, and will oversee the group’s consumer banking and wealth management platforms. Soo will stay on as an adviser, leaving his executive duties at the bank after 17 years as head of Singapore consumer banking.
The newly appointed Ong, 42, joined DBS in 2007 as a management associate and is currently head of investment products and advisory at the bank’s consumer banking and wealth management group.
He has spent eight of his 17-year career at the lender’s corporate treasury, where he eventually became its deputy corporate treasurer.
The incoming consumer banking head graduated from Oxford and Harvard, before joining DBS.
Soo, who joined DBS in 2003, was responsible for overseeing the launch of Paylah! – the bank’s mobile wallet – as Singapore consumer banking head.
