Move is said to align with the growing demand for premium transportation services

LAND transport operator ComfortDelGro (CDG) has introduced new Toyota Alphard Hybrid models to its existing fleet of limousine taxis alongside the Mercedes Viano, Toyota Vellfire, Mercedes E-Class, and Lexus ES300 models.

On Friday (Jan 3), CDG Taxi’s chief executive Tommy Tan said that the move aligns with the growing demand for premium transportation services.

“The introduction of Toyota Alphard Hybrid taxis enables our drivers to benefit from higher fares while providing passengers with an enhanced travel experience,” commented Tan.

A CDG representative told The Business Times that the company was adding a total of 40 such models to its fleet, and that it expects another 40 to be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

The operator added that its new Toyota Alphard Hybrid taxis can accommodate up to six passengers and “offer exceptional luxury features”, including ventilated seats with ottoman and massage functions as well as multiple USB-C charging points.

Like the Lexus ES300 limousine taxis that CDG launched last year, these Toyota Alphard Hybrid taxis will feature LED taxi signs behind the windscreen instead of traditional rooftop-toppers.

CDG said that it invests in comprehensive professional training for its limousine drivers. It added that, beyond its Central Provident Fund contributions to its drivers, it has also been investing S$5.5 million annually in driver welfare and incentive schemes.

Some 13,000 CDG cabbies are estimated to benefit from these schemes, including rental incentives as well as fuel and electric vehicle charging discounts.

According to the price list from authorised dealer Borneo Motors, a Toyota Alphard Hybrid 2.5 Elegance costs S$387,888 as at Dec 19, 2024.
