HSBC has appointed 22-year veteran Jil Chin as its new head of international wealth hub for Singapore, as the company leads efforts to grow its international wealth business, the bank announced in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 7).

Chin, who joined the bank on Jan 6, will oversee the scaling up of its offshore business through new client growth, as she works on stronger cross-border collaborations as well as client relationships, said HSBC.

Chin was most recently at Citibank Singapore as banking director for wealth management for Citigold and Citigold Private Client.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she had held a variety of roles within Citibank, where she had worked since 2003. That included being head of direct sales, senior vice-president of cards and personal loans.

In Chin’s new role at HSBC, she will report to Ashmita Acharya, head of international wealth and premier banking at HSBC Singapore.

“A comprehensive hub for wealth and asset management, Singapore has one of the fastest retail offshore AUM (assets under management) growth globally. I am delighted to have Jil on board to lead the business in capturing these growth opportunities,” Acharya said.

Separately, HSBC Life Singapore on Monday announced that it appointed Ronald Tan to be its chief agency development officer.

He will take charge of HSBC Life’s tied agency channel, which is central to the bank’s multi-channel distribution. Tan will also oversee the insurer’s strategic distribution partnership with Singapore Post.

Tan, who has been in the industry for 25 years, has held several roles, including that of chief agency officer at Income Insurance, head of agency distribution at Tokio Marine Life and head of agency distribution at AXA Life.
